Law of mechanics and law of electrodynamics do not apply on the structure of atom. The law of conservation of energy however applies. According to E. Rutherford the electrons are moving around the nucleus in circular but undefined manner. The problem with this model is that any accelerating electron (charged particle) will lose energy and eventually fall into the nucleus and hence the atom will be highly unstable. Neils Bohr defined these circular paths as specific discrete energy levels in which an electron does not lose energy.
