Neils Bohr gave an explanation about the stability of atom. Which of the following laws do you think is applied to the structure of atom?
Law of conservation of energy
Law of mechanics and law of electrodynamics do not apply on the structure of atom. The law of conservation of energy however applies. According to E. Rutherford the electrons are moving around the nucleus in circular but undefined manner. The problem with this model is that any accelerating electron (charged particle) will lose energy and eventually fall into the nucleus and hence the atom will be highly unstable. Neils Bohr defined these circular paths as specific discrete energy levels in which an electron does not lose energy.
