In glycolysis, 2 molecules of ATP are consumed initially in converting glucose to fructose 1, 6-bisphosphate.
Four molecules of ATP are produced at substrate level phosphorylation, along with the generation of 2 molecules of NADH+. These NADH+ molecules are further utilized in the ETC to give rise to a total of 6 molecules of ATP (3 ATP per NADH+).
