Solution

The correct option is D Diffraction of light
Newton's corpuscular theory, could explain the reflection, refraction and rectilinear propagation of light. But it failed to explain optical phenomena (or) wave phenomena such as interference, diffraction, polarisation etc.

Why this question ?

Key concept : According to Newton, light consists of tiny massless particles called “corpuscles.” which are shot out at high speed by a luminous object. This theory could explain the reflection, refraction and rectilinear propagation of light.
