Let the average expenditure of all nine be Rs. $x$

Then $12 \times 8 + (x + 8) = 9 x$

$\Rightarrow 96 + x + 8 = 9 x$

$\Rightarrow 8 x = 104$

$\Rightarrow x = \frac{104}{8} = 13$

Total money spent $= 9 x =$ Rs. $9 \times 13 =$ Rs. $117$
