Let the average expenditure of all the nine be $\overline{x}$

Given that ninth member spent Rs. $8$ more than the $\overline{x}$

Therefore, the amount spent by the ninth member is $\overline{x}+8$

Hence, $\overline{x}=\frac{(12\times 8)+\overline{x}+8}{9}$

$⟹9\overline{x}=96+\overline{x}+8$

$⟹8\overline{x}=104$

$⟹\overline{x}=13$

Total money spent by them is $(12\times 8)+13+8=117$
