reasons.

Solution

1.Air is a mixture of gases with oxygen(21%) and Nitrogen(78%) by volume

2.Nitrogen (N2) and Oxygen (O2) are present in large quantities in air and still they do not combine with each other under normal conditions to form Nitric oxide (NO) and the low temperature condition is required for the formation of NO.

3.Nitrogen and Oxygen exist as molecules at room temperature and a triple bond exists between N atoms which requires a large amount of energy to break the triple bond and excite the valence electrons.

4.At room temperature, Nitrogen do not combine with Oxygen.
