Solution

Dear student,
The farmers apply nitrogen fertilizers to the soil because various plants cannot directly use the nitrogen present in the air. But, pulse crops like green gram, bengal gram, black gram are the leguminous plants which have a Symbiotic association with a bacteria called as nitrogen fixing bacteria, like rhizobium. It forms root nodules in plant which directly absorbs atmospheric nitrogen and convert it into usable form to be easily absorbed by the plants.Hence, farmers do not apply nitrogen fertilizers during the cultivation of these plants.
