Question

Normality of 1% (wt/vol) H2SO4 is

Open in App
Solution

Normality = molarity x No. of equivalents

since ,
1%(wt/vol) H2so4 = 1g H2SO4 in 100ml of solution...

Molarity = no:moles /vol Of solution.

molarity of 1% H2SO4 = (1/98) / (100 x 10^-3) = 0.1 molar (approx.)
(Mol:mass of H2S04=98)

No. of equivalents = 2 , (as 2H+ in H2SO4) ,

Normality = molarity x No. of equivalents

Normality = 0.1 x 2 = 0.2

Hope this helpss..
