Solution

The correct option is A a and d
Simple epithelium is one cell thick. So, in this case, every cell is in direct contact with the underlying basement membrane. In general, it is found, where absorption and filtration occurs. Simple squamous, simple cuboidal, simple columnar and simple pseudostratified are four major classes of the simple epithelium. Simple squamous epithelium is found lining the areas where passive diffusion of gases occur, including the walls of the capillaries, the lining of the alveoli of the lungs and the lining of the pericardial, pleural and peritoneal cavities. The inner surfaces of salivary and sweat glands are also lined by simple epithelia.
Thus, the correct answer is the option (A), 'a and d'.
