Pyruvic acid, the end product of glycolysis requires to undergo a link reaction to be able to enter Krebs' cycle as acetyl CoA, a 2 carbon compound. Pyruvic acid is acetylated by the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex which releases hydrogen and carbon dioxide. Hydrogen reduces one NAD+ to NADH2 per molecule of pyruvic acid. 1 NADH2 yields 3 ATP from ETS.
