One molecule of pentyne has 8 hydrogens i.e C5H8 according to the alkyne general formula CnH2n2. The hydrogenation reaction of pentyne is as follow:
HCCCH2CH2CH3+2H2Pt/Pd−−−CH3CH2CH2CH2CH3
Thus for one molecule of pentyne, we require 4 stoms of hydrogen. Thus for 5 molecules of pentyne we require 20 hydrogen atoms.
