At present, there are 31 judges in Supreme Court including Chief justice. ( one Chief Justice and 30 other judges).
The supreme court of India was inaugurated on January 28, 1950. Originally, the strength of the supreme court was fixed at eight(one chief justice and seven other judges). The parliament has increased the number of other judges progressively 10 in 1956, 13 in 1960, 17 in 1977, 25 in 1986, 30 in 2009.
