Solution

sp2Hybridisation:-

  • sp2 hybridization is also called trigonal hybridization.
  • It involves mixing of one 's' orbital and two 'p' orbitals of equal energy to give a new hybrid orbital known as sp2.
  • A mixture of s and p orbital formed in trigonal symmetry and is maintained at1200.

Structure of Aspartame

  • Aspartame is a methyl ester of a dipeptide made of aspartic acid and phenylalanine.
  • It is used as an artificial sweetener.
  • To calculate the total number of sp2hybridized compounds in a complex, we can calculate the total sigma bond attached to the carbon.
  • The number of sp2 hybridized carbon is marked with an asterisk.
  • There are six sp2 hybridized carbon in the ring and three are present outside the ring.

Therefore, So the total number of carbon having sp2 hybridization is 9.
