Question

O Have you ever disliked anybody’s touch? Whose touch did you dislike?

O If you were in Ritu’s place, what would you do?

O What else can be done when such things happen? Discuss.

O Everybody’s touch is not the same. Ritu did not like it when Meena’s uncle held her hand, but she liked to hold Meena’s hand. Why do you think there was this difference?

Solution

O Disclaimer: This question requires the students to share their own experiences and observations. Keeping this in mind, it is strongly recommended that the students prepare the answer on their own.

O If I were at Ritu's place, I would have talked about this with my parents or teacher.

O We can immediately go to some other elder present there and tell them about it. It is better not to go near people who make us feel uncomfortable. But if something happens accidentally, we should be careful next time. If that person is a near one or a relative, we should tell them loudly not to touch as we do not like it. It will make them afraid. We should never be quiet in situations where we feel scared or uncomfortable. Also, we should keep our parents and teachers informed about our whereabouts. We should always let our parents or our teachers know if something is not right with us. They will definitely help us.

O A child can easily recognise a healthy or an unhealthy touch. Ritu did not mind Meena's touch because they held hands in affection. It was a sign of their love and friendship and it made her feel secure. On the other side, uncle's touch made her uneasy. It showed that his intentions were not good.
