The correct option is D 8 cm

PO is the radius of the circle
PO=17 cm.
Given, the length of the chord PQ=30 cm.
The perpendicular from the centre of the circle to the chord bisects the chord.
PM=MQ=15 cm.
Using Pythagoras theorem in ΔPOM,
we get,
PO2=PM2+MO2
172=152+MO2
MO2=289225=64
MO=8 cm.
