(a) The force which balance A exerts on balanceB is called action.
(b) The force of balanceB on balance A is called reaction.
Action and reaction forces are explained by Newton's third law of motion. This law states that to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. These action and reaction forces are acted on two different bodies which are shown in the diagram.
