The correct option is A
By observing the shapes, we can identify that in option A, there is 1 unknown qunatity, that is the shape of rhombus. So, we can write the equation as 3 x (rhombus) + 6 = 9; 1 variable
Similarly we can see that the other equations can be written as
3 x (square) + 2 x (Triangle) = 8; 2 variables
and
4 x (circles) = 1 x (rectangle) ; 2 variables

By observing the equations, we can say that the equation formed in option A is a linear equation in 1 variable.
