Question

Obtain a quadratic polynomial p(x)=ax2+bx+c, where sum of zeros is 2 and product of zeros is 13; a>0

Open in App
Solution

p(x)=ax2+bx+c-Equation 1
Given sum of roots=α+β=ba=2-Equation 2
and Product of roots=αβ=ca=13(given a>0)-Equation 3
For roots, let's put p(x)=0
ax2+bx+c=0
x2+bax+ca=0
By putting values from Equation 2 & 3, we get
x22x+13=0
p(x)=3x232x+1=0
