Cl, Ar, Na+ and Mg+2 all have 18 electrons. In case of potassium and calcium ions, the size is smaller because of the increase in effective nuclear charge. Along the period, size decreases as the atomic number increases but the principal quantum number remains the same. Therefore, Cl has a larger atomic size than argon, although the difference is not that high.
