Solution

The correct option is D 15.6 gal
Olivia painted the exterior of a room with 25 quarts more paint than the amount of paint used for the interior.
We know,
1 quart = 2 pints
25 quarts=2×25=50 pints

Let the amount of paint used to paint the interior of the room be x pints.
Amount of paint used to paint the exterior of the room =(50+x) pints

Total amount of paint used
= (amount of paint used to paint the interior of the room) + (amount of paint used to paint the exterior of the room)
200=x+(50+x) (Total amount of paint used = 200 pints)
200=2x+50
2x=20050
x=1502
x=75 pints

Substitute for x to find the amount of paint used to paint the exterior of the room.
(50+x)=50+75
= 125 pints

We know,
1 gal = 8 pints
1 pint = 18 gal
125 pints=1258
= 15.6 gal

Hence, 15.6 gal of paint is used to paint the exterior of the room.
