Given, SI=4800
CI=5088
Say the principal amount was P and rate of interest is r% p.a for two years
SI=PT100=P×2×r100
4800=2Pr100
240000=Pr(1)
Similarly CI=P(1+r100)2P
5088=P[(1+r100)21](2)
Substituting (1) in (2) we get
5088=240000r[1+r21002+2r1001]
5088240000=r1002+2100
0.0212=r1002+0.02
0.0012=r1002
r=12%
