On a single lane horizontal curve of radius 20m with a design speed of 60 kmph and length of curve as 200m, the Setback distance in 'm' is

Open in App
Solution

Stoppiing sight distance,
0.278Vt+V2254f
=0.278×60×2.+602(254×0.35)
=82.19 m

Assume Length of curve > SSD

Set back distance

=RR cos(α2)
α2=180S2πR
=(180×82.19)(2×3.14×250)=9.42 degree

Setback distance,
=250250cos(9.42)=3.37 m
