Diameter of wire (d)=1mm
(k)insulation=0.1 W/mK,houter=25 W/m2
Critical radius of insulation=(k)insulationhouterrc=0.125=4×103=4 mm

r1=0.5 mmr2=0.5+1=1.5mm <4mm
Further insulation will increase the heat loss upto 4 mm radius (critical radius). Insulation after the critical radius will decrease the heat loss.
