Consider the problem
Speed along xaxis is vx=8m/s
Mass, m=1kg
Force applied, Fy=2N
Acceleration, ay=Fm=21=2m/s2

Now along y the body starts moving after application of force.

initial velocity along y,uy=0
so,
vy=uy+ayt
therefore
vy=0+(2)(4)

vy=8m/s
Now,
magnitude of resultant velocity is
v=(v2x+v2y)12=(82+82)12

=82m/s
