There are 14, 28, and 56 balls in a box.

To determine the highest number of different colored balls in each group, we have to find out the greatest common factor of the numbers using the ladder method.

So, let us write all 3 numbers on the horizontal line and divide them using a prime number which exactly divides all the three numbers.


Repeat the process until all the numbers are divisible by a prime number.


Now, to obtain the GCF, we multiply all the divisors.

∴ GCF of 14, 28, 56 = 14

Hence, each group contains atmost 14 balls of different colors.
