India is rich in biodiversity. Two of its harsh biomes are
1)The Himalayan Alpine ranges in India is at a high altitude. The air is very thin and dry with very low precipitation level. Rhododendron Oak, laurel and chestnut trees are found in these regions. Animals such as yak, tiger, leopard and the Asian elephant are found.
2) Another biome is the desert biome that occupies most of Rajasthan and parts of Gujrat. It is part of Thar desert and has monsoon rains and dust storms. In the winter the temperatures fall below freezing point and the temperature in summer reaches more than 125 degrees Fahrenheit. But still, it supports life in the form of plants such as cactus. Animals such as camels, desert cats, blackbucks Indian Gazelle and Great Indian Bustard are found here.
