Question

on increasing lattice enthalpy what is the effect on stability

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Since, we know that Lattice energy would be higher if more energy is required to break the ionic bond between the constituent ions in a crystal lattice. So, if the lattice enthalpy increases which means more heat is required which relates that the compound is more stable.
So if lattice enthalpy increases, stability increases.

Regards.
