Question

On mixing the aqueous solutions of compounds (A) and (B), an insoluble compound (C) is produced along with another water soluble compound (D). Compound (A) on heating gives brown NO2 gas with a cracking noise. An aqueous solution of compound (A) gives black ppt. with H2S gas. Compound (A) also gives white ppt. with dil. HCl which is soluble in hot water and reappears on cooling. The hot water extract of compound (A) gives yellow ppt. with K2CrO4 solution.

Solution

The correct option is A (A)Pb(NO3)2(B)FeSO4 (C)PbSO4(D)Fe(NO3)2
Option (A) is correct.
Pb(NO3)2[A]+FeSO4[B]PbSO4[C]+Fe(NO3)2[D]
Pb(NO3)2PbO+NO2+O2
Pb(NO3)2+H2SPbS(blackppt)+HNO3
Pb(NO3)2+HClPbCl2(whiteppt)+HNO3
PbCl2+K2CrO4PbCrO4(yellowppt)+KCl
