Sulphur dioxide reacts with chlorine to produce thionyl chloride SOCl2 and dichlorine oxide which is used as a bleach for wood pulp and textiles.

So, on reaction with chlorine in sunlight, sulphur dioxide gives thionyl chloride. In this reaction chlorine is added to SO2. So it is addition reaction.

SO2+2Cl2SOCl2+Cl2O.
