On solving 'Add two to a number and subtract twice the so obtained sum' we get,
-(x+2)
Let the number be x.
Then, adding two to this number makes it x+2.
So, twice the sum becomes 2(x+2).
We now need to subtract 2(x+2) from x+2.
i.e., (x+2)−2(x+2)=(x+2)−(2x+4)=x+2−2x−4=(x−2x)+(2−4)=(−x)+(−2)=−x−2=−(x+2)
