Solution

The correct option is B x=6, y=4
25x+y3xy=1 ......(i)
40x+y+2xy=5 ......(ii)
Multiply equation (i) by 2 and equation (ii) by 3
50x+y6xy=2 and 120x+y+6xy=15
Adding the new obtained equations, we get
170x+y=17
x+y=10 ......(iii)
Substitute x+y=10 in equation (i)
25105xy=1
3xy=25101
3xy=1510
xy=2 ........(iv)
Adding equation (iii) and (iv)
2x=12 x=6
Put x=6 in equation (iii)
6+y=10 y=4
So, the solution is x=6 and y=4
