Question

On the basis of kinetic theory explain why, ammonium chloride sublimes and goes from solid state directly into vapour state.

Solution

Ammonium chloride decomposes on heating.
NH4Cl(G)NH3(g)+HCl(g)
The solid particles are heated and are filled with energy. This energy is outforced. Hence it sublines. Since, ammonium chloride has stong inter-molecular forces of attraction, it doesn't need any external source of heat for its' sublimation.
