Due to touching the plate, an impulse is registered from our sensory organs to our Sensory Neurons. From there, the impulse travels to the Central Nervous System (Spinal Cord), where the appropriate action takes place. After that, the impulse is transferred back to the muscle, using the motor neuron. As this is an immediate action, we can call this type of process by calling it a Reflex Action. The neural process which produces it is known as a Reflex Arc.
