Question

On which factors does loudness and shrillness of sound depends

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
The loudness of softness of a sound depends upon its amplitude. The amplitude of the sound wave depends upon the force with which an object is prepared to vibrate.

Loud sound can travel a long distance as it is associated with higher energy while soft sound can travel a shorter distance as it is associated with less energy. A sound wave spreads out after it leaves its source of production and as it moves away from the source its amplitude and its loudness decreases.

Loudness depends upon amplitude, the intensity of sound and sensitivity of the ear. and the shrillness is depended on the frequency of the wavelength.
