Solution

Dear Student,

Let dog have x sacks and cat have y sacks. Then, according to question, x+1=2y-1 ....1x-1=y ....2Subtracting equ2 from 1, we getx+1-2y-1-x+1+y=02-2y+2+y=04-y=0y=4Substituting value of y in equ.2, we getx= y+1 x=5Dog is carrying 5 sacks and cat is carrying 4 sacks
