There are $12$ balls in a bag.
Out of which $p$ balls are white.
The number of favorable outcomes is $p$ and the total number of outcomes is $12$ .
The formula for probability is,
$P r o b a b l i t y = \frac{N u m b e r o f f a v o r a b l e o u t c o m e s}{T o t a l n u m b e r o f o u t c o m e s} ∴ P (w h i t e) = \frac{p}{12}$
