Question

One card is drawn from a pack of 52 cards, each of the 52 cards being equally likely to be drawn. Find the probability that the card is drawn is a face card.

Solution

Total cards $$ \mathrm{n}(\mathrm{S})=52 $$
In a pack of 52 cards: Kings, queen and jacks are called face cards. $$ n(C)=12 $$
$$ P(C)=\dfrac{n(C)}{n(S)}=\dfrac{12}{52}=\dfrac{3}{13} $$
