One day, Robin takes a can of dog food to feed stray dogs. A single can feeds eight puppies or four dogs.
Seeing so many dogs, he thinks of bringing more cans the next day.
So, the next day Robin takes eight cans of food. He feeds a total of forty puppies and a few dogs.
How many dogs does he feed?
Number of puppies one can can feed = 8
Number of puppies 8 cans can feed = 8×8=64 puppies
Number of puppies fed with 8 cans = 40 puppies
Remaining food can feed = 64 – 40 = 24 puppies
We know that 1 can feeds 8 puppies. Then, 3 cans of foods are required to feed puppies.
Thus, 3 cans of food are remaining.
Number of dogs 1 can can feed = 4
Number of dogs 3 cans can feed = 4×3=12 dogs
Thus, the remaining 3 cans can feed 12 dogs.
Hence, 8 cans can feed 40 puppies and 12 dogs.
