One day Sandy misses the school bus and has to walk to school. On the way to school, he realizes that his shadow is very long. During his recess, he notices his shadow is shorter. On his way from home to school, he looked carefully at his shadow and he notices that his shadow has become really, really, long. He started worrying that his shadow is growing.
On which parameter do you think that the length of Sandy's shadow is depending on?
Length of shadow depends on the angle at which light falls on a body and varies at different time of day. During noon time, angle of incidence is almost 90∘ so the length of the shadows is smaller. During sunrise and sunset, the angle of incidence is low so length of the shadow is very large compared to noon.
