The correct option is A $x^{2} - 4$
$x^{4} + x^{2} - 20 = x^{4} + 5 x^{2} - 4 x^{2} - 20$
$= x^{2} (x^{2} + 5) - 4 (x^{2} + 5)$
$= (x^{2} - 4) (x^{2} + 5)$
Clearly one factor is $x^{2} + 5$ and other factor is $x^{2} - 4$ .
