One fourth of a herd of deer has gone to the forest. One third of the total number is grazing in a field and remaining 15 are drinking water on the bank of a river. Find the total number of deer.

Let the total number of deers be x.
No. of deers in the forest =x4
No. of deers in the field =x3
No. of deers drinking water =15
Total number of deers =x4+x3+15=x

3x12+4x12x=15

7x1212x12=15

5x12=15

5x12=15

5x=15×12

5x=180

x=1805 =36
The total number of deers are 36.
