Open in App
Solution

The formula of power:

The power of a machine is defined as the rate of doing work.

P=Wt

Where, W is total work done and t is time in seconds.

1Watt=1Js-1

Step 1: Calculating the value of horsepower:

We have,

1HP=550 foot -pound per second

1Pound =4.44822m

1Foot =0.3408m

Step-3:

Then, multiplying the values

1HP=550×4.44822×0.30481HP=745.69Nms

We know that, 1Watt=1Nms-1

Therefore, 1HP=745.69watt746watt

Hence, 1HP=746watt
