The Sahara Desert covers an area of over 3.5 million square miles and has only 2.5 million inhabitants roughly 1 person per square mile which is one of the lowest population densities on earth scattered settlements around the oases where as in Thar desert the congested settlements are found where wells are dug successfully bear sweet water attract nearby settlement around the wells mostly the settlements are circular.
