The reaction between K2Cr2O7 and exces KI is given as:

K2Cr2O7+7H2SO4+6KI4K2SO4+Cr2(SO4)3+7H2O+3I2

From the above reaction, we can see that one mole of K2Cr2O7 gives 3 moles of I2 on reaction with KI.

Acidified K2Cr2O7 is an oxidising agent. It oxidises I to I2 and itself gets reduced.
