In a Parliamentary democracy , executive emerges from the legislature and is responsible to it. The Legislature keeps a check on the Executive through the following:
i.The session of the Parliament begins with a Question hour, where ministers are asked questions related to the working of their miniseries.Question hour is an important medium to extract information, to criticise government policies and programmes, to highlight the shortcomings of governments' policies . Question hour is an important medium through Legislature keeps check on the Executive and through opposition criticises the policies of the government.
ii. Parliament also keeps a check through various committees like Public accounts committee.
iii. It is the parliament which also controls the purse or finance of the country. It approves the annual budget framed by the government, levies taxes, allocates resources
iv. Opposition inside the Parliament criticises the government and acts as a link between the people and the government. Being an elected body of the people it exercises control over the government and ensures that it is responsive to the needs of the people.
