Question

One side of a rectangle is \(7\) meters long and its area is \(21\) square meters. What will its perimeter be?

Open in App
Solution

\(\text{Area} = 21 \text{ sq m}\)
\(\text{Area }= \text{length }\times \text{ width}\)
\(21 = 7 \times \text{ width}\)
So, we need to find the number which when multiplied by \(7\), gives \(21\).
Since \(7 \times 3 = 21\), we can say that the width of the rectangle is \(3~ m\).
Let’s draw this rectangle.
Perimeter of the rectangle \(= 7 + 3 + 7 + 3 = 20~ m\)
