One side of a triangle measures 8 cm. Of the remaining two sides, one measures 2 cm more than the other. Then, the length of each side of the triangle is greater than x cm. Find x?

Open in App
Solution

Let the sides of the triangle in cm be x,x+2,8
Since in a triangle, the sum of two sides will be greater than the third side, we have
x+x+2>8
=>2x+2>8
=>2x>6
=>x>3
Hence the two unknown sides will be greater than 3 as they are x,x+2
Also 8>3
Hence, all the three sides of the triangle >3cm
