DNA is converted to RNA by the process of transcription by an enzyme known as RNA polymerase. The two strands of DNA are antiparallel and have complementary base pairs. One of the strands on which the enzyme acts is template strand and the other is a non-template strand. The non-template strand of DNA double helix has the complementary base pair from the template strand. The non-template strand has the same sequence as in mRNA but thymine is replaced by uracil.
