Mathematics textbook for class VI has 320 pages. The chapter 'symmetry' runs from page 261 to page 272. The ratio of the number of pages of this chapter to the total number of pages of the book is

Number of pages in Mathematics textbook for class VI = 320

The chapter 'symmetry' runs from page 261 to page 272.

$\therefore$ Number of pages of chapter 'symmetry' = (272 - 261) + 1 = 11 + 1 = 12 (+1 because both the page no. 261 and 272 are counted)

Alternatively we can calculate No. of pages = 272-260=12

Ratio of the number of pages of chapter 'symmetry' to the total number of pages

= $\frac{Numberofpagesinsymmetrychapter}{Totalnumberofpages}$

= $\frac{12}{320}$

= $\frac{3}{80}$ [on dividing numerator and denominator by 4]

= 3 : 80

Hence, (c) is the correct option.
