Osmosis examples are mostly seen with water as water is the most abundant solvent, but osmosis is possible with any solvent, even gases. The most important factor is the semi-permeable membrane.
The type of solvent doesn't matter to a significant extent unless it corrodes or reacts with the membrane which is not the case in most circumstances.
